Golap Munir, a tech-analyst, is laid to rest in peace at Rayerbazar Cemetery. After the funeral prayer at Mohammadpur Jahuri Mahalla Mosque after Asr prayer on Saturday, the family members, near and dear ones and innumerable well-wishers said goodbye to him for the last time shortly before sunset.
Many of his well-wishers including M Abdullah, President and Nurul Amin Rokon, General Secretary of Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), Jamayet Ali, Vice President of Science Writers and Journalists Association and Lutful Kabir Saadi, General Secretary and Abdul Wahed Tamal, Chief Executive and Technical Secretary of Computer Jagat and Mohammad Abdul Haq Anu took part in the funeral prayer.
Munir Tousif was widely known by his pen-name Golap Munir or G. Munir.
He succumbed to COVID-19 and died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital on Saturday morning. He left his wife and a daughter to mourn other than his near and dear ones.
Until the death of the late Munir, he was the editor of the monthly Computer Jagat. He lived with his family in Mohammadpur (Adabar) of the capital. His write-ups ranged from researches, translations, columns to science, mathematics and information technology kept the people better informed.
Golap Munir, a veteran journalist and senior member of the National Press Club, had been associated with the daily Naya Diganta since its inception. From 2004 to 2019. He was the Assistant Editor of the Naya Diganta. Even after retiring in 2019, he used to write columns in the Naya Diganta on regular basis.
